Chemical Skin Peels: Effective Treatment for Hyperpigmentation, Acne Scarring, and Aging Skin

A chemical skin peel involves applying a specially formulated chemical solution to the skin to exfoliate the outermost layers, stimulating the natural regeneration process. This leads to improved skin texture, reduced pigmentation, and diminished signs of aging. Chemical peels can be customised to suit your skin's unique needs, whether you're dealing with pigmentation, fine lines, acne scarring, or rough texture.

Targeting Hyperpigmentation with Derma 2.0 Peels

One of the most common concerns that people seek treatment for is hyperpigmentation. This includes dark spots, age spots (senile lentigo), solar lentigo (sun-induced pigmentation), melasma, and chloasma. These issues occur when excess melanin accumulates in certain areas of the skin, resulting in uneven pigmentation.

Our Depigmenting and Anti-Dark Spot Chemical Peels feature a powerful combination of active ingredients to target and reduce these pigmentation concerns. The peel contains a blend of:

  • Glycolic Acid: An exfoliant that helps to remove dead skin cells and reduce the appearance of dark spots.
  • Resorcinol: Known for its ability to lighten skin pigmentation and improve skin texture.
  • Kojic Acid: A well-known brightening agent that inhibits the production of melanin.
  • Azelaic Acid: A potent agent that helps reduce melanin formation while promoting cell turnover.
  • Arbutin: A natural ingredient that prevents the skin from producing excessive melanin.
  • Lactobionic Acid: A powerful antioxidant that aids in skin healing and improves texture.

These ingredients work synergistically to break down accumulated melanin and inhibit its overproduction, effectively reducing pigmentation over time. After just a few sessions, you will see a significant improvement in the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tone.

How Does the Derma 2.0 Depigmenting Peel Work?

The treatment protocol for Derma 2.0 Chemical Peels includes the following steps for optimal results:

  1. Pre-Treatment Cleansing: Before applying the peel, the skin must be thoroughly cleansed and degreased. We use the Derma 2.0 Degreasing Solution to ensure that the skin is free from oils and impurities, allowing the active ingredients in the peel to penetrate deeply.
  2. Application of the Peel: The Derma 2.0 Depigmenting Peel is then applied to the skin. The treatment is left on for 8-16 minutes depending on the severity of the pigmentation. The active ingredients work to break down melanin accumulations and inhibit future overproduction.
  3. Post-Treatment Care: After the peel, two layers of Derma 2.0 Post Peeling Neutralising Solution are applied to soothe and neutralise the skin, helping to reduce any discomfort and promote healing. The neutralising solution helps restore the skin's natural balance, leaving your skin feeling refreshed.

What to Expect After the Treatment?

Chemical peels may cause mild redness or tingling, similar to a light sunburn. These effects are temporary and should subside within a few hours to a day. You may experience some peeling or flaking as your skin regenerates, but this is a normal part of the process.

For optimal results, a series of 5 chemical peel sessions, spaced once per week, is recommended. This allows your skin to regenerate properly between treatments, maximising the benefits of the peel.
